Jesus and the Outsider
Deacon David Morris stepped in as a last minute guest preacher, and shared a wonderful meditation on the gospel lesson.
What do we do with outsiders? When a woman approached Jesus for help, the disciples wanted Jesus to offer help and send the woman away. They wanted to find the easiest path to escape the situation.
Jesus, however, used the opportunity to foreshadow the beutiful expanse of His Kingdom, in which the walls that divide us come down through His death and resurrection.
Thanks for joining us today!
We are concluding our Proverbs summer series today, though there are many topics we couldn't get to. It is really a wonderful book!
Proverbs 3:5-6 is a wonderful summary verse. Our creation and salvation rightly claim every part of our lives - heart, soul, mind, and strength. The grace of Christ, likewise, is available for every part of our lives.
Our Summer of Mission continues with a great testimony from Ben Courtemanche - the Northeast Regional Director for the Navigators.
We then continue our discussion from Proverbs, looking at the common theme of strife and peace. We all find ourselves in conflict, but how can we avoid unecessary and unproductive conflict?
Today, in our Summer of Mission series, we hear from Doug Smith, who leads our weekly prayer meeting.
In our Proverbs Study, we look at two proverbs, right next to each other, about responding to foolish people saying foolish things. To answer, or not to answer? That is the question.
In today's "Summer of Mission" segment, we get to hear from Amanda McGann, the president of the Isaiah 40 foundation - a ministry of healing and wholeness.
Then, we take a look at two Proverbs and the parable of the sower. While the way may seem straight, we learn that advice, wisdom, and patience give space for deep roots and abiding faith.
Communication is all about relationship. In today's Proverbs, we're taking a look at the intention and means of communication - and discovering that Jesus has given us a great example of creating and repairing relationships.
Thanks for worshipping with St. Timothy today!
Sorry about the lighting today - we arrived to an electrical issue (repaired after the service).
We heard from Zach Stevenson of 150 Cherry St. - a place of worship and community - about their ministry.
From Proverbs today, we explored the sluggard and his overworking counterpart - both caught up in goals that can never satisfy. We are made for more than luxurious rest.
*Sermon starts at 11:30
As part of our Summer of Mission, we have a testimony from Amy Bowen, executice director at 7th Seed, a community of peace and transformation in Huntington, VT
Following the testimony, we come to our study of Proverbs, and ask about the relationship between riches and righteousness. The Bible talks about money a lot. Is it a sign of God's favor, or a sign of unjust gain, or something else? How much of our effort should be spent on gaining wealth? These are important questions, and the book of Proverbs gives us some lenses to examine oursleves.
*Sermon begins at 10:30
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge. Discipline can be difficult. We don't like to be told that we're doing things wrongly, but we often need correction if we are going to be shaped into the people that God wants us to be. Today's look at Proverbs includes Proverbs 12:1, 13:1, and 13:24 and explores the connection between discipline and love.
The video begins with a testimony from Deacon Lyn Baker reagrding the call to ordained service in the Anglican Church.
