Fr. Micah’s Sermon: We Worship, Part 5 – “Where We Worship”

Exodus 24:12-18
Psalm 99
Philippians 3:7-14
Matthew 17:1-9

Have a blessed Lent! Today, we begin a season of preparation for our Easter celebration. For the next few weeks, our liturgy will change to be a bit more somber, to exclude “alleluia”, and to add more prayer as we spiritually walk the journey toward Jerusalem.

Today – mark your calendars for our Holy Week services and offerings, from Palm Sunday through Easter. These are some of my favorite events of the year, and I’d love to share them with you!

If you can’t make it to the service tonight at 7pm, there are some “open hours” when the sanctuary will be open (and warm) for private prayer. I’ll be there if you’d like to talk or pray.

Finally, throughout Lent I will be offering video devotionals on our social media pages. Keep a look out, and study the book of 1 John through Lent.

We all worship – whether we like it or not. We are created to proclaim the worthiness of the things that matter the most. If we’re not careful, we end up worshiping ourselves. Today, let’s consider what story our lives are telling about what is the most important things in the world.

“Love and Law” – Romans 13:10

During Advent 2025, we are looking at some good memory verses. In this verse, St. Paul directs us to love one another, as Jesus taught us. At first glance, the connection between love and law seems odd – but we learn that love is at the heart of God, and that love is at the heart of law. We fulfill the law when we seek God’s good for one another.
