Children and Youth

We love young people and how they reflect the image of God in our community. Kids from nursery age all the way through high school have opportunities to learn, grow, and serve in our congregation. Jesus welcomed children, so we do too.

During our services, we offer a safe and caring nursery for children staffed with volunteers committed to showing God’s generous love to our little ones. We invite parents to take children to the nursery prior to the reading of the Word and the sermon. Children return to the service at the Peace to participate with the entire congregation in the Eucharist.

During the school year, we provide Sunday school for children from kindgergarten to fourth grade. Trained volunteers lead the children to their class prior to the reading of the Word and the sermon and then bring them back at the Peace to participate with the entire congregation in the Eucharist. This is an important age for kids to not only learn about God, but to encounter him for themselves. In Sunday school, we celebrate that God is their Good Shepherd, Creator of a glorious world, and Author of the big story of salvation. We guide kids to respond to God with hearts of love and worship, learning about prayer, the Bible, and the mystery of the Eucharist.

Youth from fifth grade through high school are an important part of our church family. We value the gifts they bring and take seriously their desire to follow Jesus. We have many opportunities to participate in our service. Some options include serving: on the worship team, as an acolyte, reading Scripture, Crucifer (carrying the cross in and out of the service), and helping with hospitality. Youth are also active participants in community groups, prayer groups, and all of our service in the community. We also work to find ways to gather youth from area churches together for fun and community as they grow in following Jesus.
