Scriptures: Hosea 4:1-6; Psalm 19; 2 Timothy 3:10-17; Luke 6:46-49
In the opening sermon marking the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, we consider the core doctrine: the supremacy of scripture. When we hold an English Bible in our hand, we are holding an item of immense value. People devoted their lives to bring us the truth of God in our own tongue. We also look at 2 Timothy 3, where Paul writes that in the world, people will continue to deceive and be deceived, but the sacred writings make us wise to salvation, form and shape us as followers of Jesus, and equip us for the life that God has called us to lead.
